Cherry Julep

3 maraschino cherries

2 tablespoons maraschino cherry juice

1 teaspoon sugar

1 tablespoon lemon juice of 1/2 lemon

3 ounces gin

1 ounce brandy

Crushed ice

Garnish: Lemon slice, maraschino cherry

 

In a mixing glass, muddle together cherries, cherry juice, sugar and lemon juice. Strain, yielding juice without cherry pieces. Add ice cubes and stir in gin and brandy, at least 30 seconds to combine. Fill a low ball glass with crushed ice, strain cocktail over crushed ice. Garnish with lemon slice and maraschino cherry.
